Conversation Club is simple: you come and you have a conversation in English. Generally, I do not structure the sessions, though we sometimes begin them with games in order to “break the ice” (idiom: to remove the tension in a first meeting). To help you retain conversations in English, I try to have a Native English Speaker sat on every table to support conversation.
I provide tea and coffee and some biscuits. There is no need to sign up to this session, and you do not need to stay for the entire session, feel free to come for as long as you can. More the merrier!
Bouldering is climbing without ropes. The walls are not as high as rope climbing walls, but the routes are more difficult. It is a sport of skill, as well as body strength and it’s really FUN.
It is Indoors. Please wear clothing that you can move in.Clothes:
- comfortable trainers (you cannot climb in bare feet)
- stretchy shorts or leggings
– basically, no restrictive clothing.
Every Thursday, Graham leads a singing group in the Oasis cafe. This is a great chance to practise your English speaking skills and your singing voice at the same time. You will sing some traditional songs but lots of popular music, and Graham encourages suggestions for songs.
You do not need to sign up to this activity, just turn up.
Every Thursday, we have two 5 a-side pitches booked for a friendly kick around. If you would like to play, bring your sports kit and some water. New students can meet us outside the ELTC to walk up to the pitches at 3.30pm.
There is no need to sign up for this activity, though the sessions can be very full, so we encourage students who are very serious about playing to join the University clubs or also attend the Social Sport football sessions.
